The Champions League season is always a moment every football lover and bettor looks forward to. With the new season upon us, it means more betting markets and prediction options for bettors.
We anticipate a completely complex 24/25 Champions League season. If you must know, we're in the inaugural season of the new Champions League format, which means every team is new to how it works or the experience.
One thing is sure. We expect the "big boys" to run the show effortlessly. That is to say, we expect their experience and squad depth to sustain their quality all through the tasking season, especially with more matches now being played.
As always, no one rules out Real Madrid, the only club to have dominated the Champions League over the years. With the front three of Vinicius Jr, Mbappe, and Rodrigo, we expect this team to produce more goals in this season's UCL.
And there's Manchester City, the dictators of possession. We bank on them and Real Madrid to be the major standouts of the 24/25 UCL; and of course, we expect them to have an easy ride to the knockout stages.
Who is going to be the winner of the 24/25 UCL? If there's one team we can never rule out, it's always Real Madrid.
They seem to know the secret code to winning the Champions League. They always find a way where there's no way. That means even with a poor league performance, they still put out quality shows in the Champions League.
Now that they've added Mbappe, a player who's been hungry for UCL glory, we expect them to produce a masterclass in this season's Champions League. Of course, that means going all the way to the finals, thanks to their electrifying attack and the team's style of quick transition.
While Real Madrid will always be Madrid, we can never underestimate what Manchester City is capable of. With Pep leading the dugout, we expect them to progress all the way to the finals. Like always, they remain the favourite.
And then there's Arsenal and Bayern Munich sitting at 3rd and 4th of bookies’ rankings respectively. Arsenal's position comes as no surprise, as they've been playing beautiful attacking football under Mike Arteta.
For Bayern, they're always a heavyweight, and their experience and team quality justify their position in the winner odds.
Champions League - Winner Odds
We could all remember how the European Super League once strongly opposed UEFA in an effort to rebrand European football.
In a bid to counteract the threat of the Super League, UEFA deemed it fit to restructure all UEFA competitions, including the Champions League. UEFA introduced the ‘Swiss model’ for the new format. It will have 36 teams, instead of the traditional 32, qualify for the Champions League, from what UEFA calls the “league stage.”
This effort is predicted to bring a whole new football experience.
That's not all. The new format will bring before fans the opportunity to experience quality matches right from the start of the Champions League. By quality matches, we mean games between bigger teams, say Real Madrid vs Arsenal, right from the first game of the UCL, instead of waiting for the knockout rounds to fill our eyes with quality moments.
What does this new format entail? Let's find out!
The UCL begins with the qualification rounds. Teams from lower-ranked countries would have to go through the qualification stage
This stage is also known as the play-off round, allowing teams to meet in a two-legged tie. Teams that made it out of the qualification round then go through to the league stage (formerly group stage).
The UCL league stage consists of 36 teams, all ranked together. There are 8 matches for each team in this stage; four at home and four away from home.
League phase | Draw date | Match dates |
---|---|---|
Each team will play 8 matches | 29 August 2024 | 17 - 19 September 2024 1 - 2 October 2024 22 - 23 October 2024 5 - 6 November 2024 26 - 27 November 2024 10 - 11 December 2024 21- 22 January 2025 29 January 2025 |
To know the 8 opponents your team will be playing against, all the teams will be initially seeded into four pots, and each team will be drawn to play two teams, one game each (one home and one away).
Teams that take places from 9 to 24 will play in the playoffs in 1/16 and when the winner is revealed, they will join the teams that took 1 to 8 place in the League Stage and will play in the 1/8 finals of the Europa League.
KO Round Play-offs | Draw date | 1st leg | 2nd leg |
---|---|---|---|
31 January 2025 | 11 - 12 February 2025 | 18 - 19 February 2025 |
The round of 16, quarter-finals, and the semi-finals have teams compete in two-legged ties to advance. The Round of 16 has 16 teams from the league stage and play-offs, facing off home and away to move forward.
In the Quarter-finals, the remaining 8 teams battle in similar two-legged matchups to secure a spot in the Semi-finals.
The Semi-finals then see the last 4 teams competing over two legs, aiming to reach the final.
Knockout round play-offs | Draw date | 1st leg | 2nd leg |
---|---|---|---|
Round of 16 | 21 February 2025 | 4 – 5 March 2025 | 11 – 12 March 2025 |
Quarter-finals | 8 – 9 April 2025 | 15 – 16 April 2025 | |
Semi-finals | 29 – 30 April 2025 | 6 – 7 May 2025 |
The final is between two teams that made it all through the league stage, the last 16, quarter finals, and the semifinals.
This season's final, to be held at The Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany, will remain as always, which is a one-legged tie that will be determined in 90 minutes. If the match ends in a draw, it proceeds to extra time and possibly a penalty shootout.
Knockout phase | Venue | Match date |

Final | Allianz Arena, Munich | 31 May 2025 |
UEFA ranks clubs based on a coefficient that measures their performance in European competitions over 5 years. Clubs earn points for wins and draws in the UCL, UEL, and the Conference League.
Clubs earn more points for their success, like reaching higher stages, such as the knockout rounds.
Higher-ranked leagues are awarded more UCL spots as a reward for their performance over the previous five seasons.
As always, this season's UCL has top teams from different countries. With the new format, how well would these clubs perform? Can they uphold their status and show why they're from the top-ranked countries?
As far as the UCL is concerned, Spain remains top of the ranking, thanks to Real Madrid's exploits in the competition.
The European king has 15 UCL, making them the club with the most Champions League. There's also Barcelona with 5 UCL.
Now that we have a new format for the competition, what level of performance should we expect from these big Spanish La Liga teams in this season's UCL? While Barcelona are still finding their feet in European competitions due to financial difficulties and players’ lack of quality display, our ucl predictions bet on Real Madrid to fly high the country's flag once again.
Though there are other Spanish teams in this season's UCL, like Girona and Atletico Madrid. However, we don't expect them to go as far as Real Madrid, especially now that the team has boosted its attacking power with the addition of Mbappe.
England has 4 slots for this season's UCL. With England ranked second, which Premier League team can we bank on in the upcoming UCL season? Of course, going by our champions league match predictions, no other team than Manchester City.
While the club isn't the most successful English team in European tournaments, they've been able to fly the country's flag higher in recent years, especially since the arrival of Pep Guardiola.
Which other English teams are in this season's UCL? We've got the likes of Arsenal, who currently rank 3rd in the bookies’ ranking of the winners, only behind Real Madrid and Manchester City.
Also, we've got Liverpool and Aston Villa. Liverpool remains the most successful English team in the UCL with 6 UCL trophies. While we expect them to be a major competitor this season, more is yet to be seen of Arne Slot’s football.
Irrespective of what Slot has in store for us this season, we don't expect much from his team as we do from Pep’s.
When we talk about Italian teams in the UCL, we always picture the Milan teams, Inter and AC Milan.
AC Milan remains the most successful Italian team in the UCL with 7 UCL trophies. Unfortunately, they haven't lived up to this status in recent years.
While AC Milan has fallen short in this aspect, Inter Milan has been firing in European competitions. Their success is evident in the five slots allocated to Italy in this season's UCL.
We've got Inter, AC Milan, Juventus, Atlanta, and Bologna, all ready to represent Italy and the Italian Serie A in the 24/25 UCL. Going by our ucl tips and predictions, we bank on Inter Milan to be the stand out team among others.
Germany also has five UCL slots this season. We can attribute this feat to Bayern Munich’s consistency in the tournament. And of course, let's not forget the historical season of Bayer Leverkusen who went the entire 23/24 UEL season almost unbeaten.
Bayern Munich remains the most successful German team in the UCL with 6 UCL trophies. Can they make it 7 in this season's UCL?
With Bayer Leverkusen, Stuttgart, Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig, and Dortmund all representing Germany in the upcoming UCL campaign, we bank on Bayern Munich as the top Bundesliga team to run the show brightest.
When we talk about French teams in the UCL, PSG often comes to our mind. It's one thing to have a lot of French Ligue 1 trophies, but another thing to perform well in the Champions League.
While PSG remains the most ambitious French team in the UCL in terms of how much they need the trophy, we can't deny that the departure of Mbappe has further weakened the team.
That notwithstanding, even with other French teams like Monaco and Brest also representing France in this season's tournament, our champions league predictions expect PSG to be the stand out French team.
Why do different countries start from different stages?
Ever wondered why different countries start from different stages in the Europa League? Well, this is because of the UEFA coefficient ranking system.
UEFA calculates the coefficients according to how the clubs representing each country have performed over a period of five years.
In this case, teams from stronger countries start directly from the group stage while those from lower-ranked countries are likely to play in the playoffs to get a chance to get into the group stage of the competition.
At MightyTips, we ensure that our predictions are accurate with thorough analysis. What we do is that we study teams to know their recent performances. Also we check their history in the competition to be sure they've got what it takes for us to bank on them.
That's not all. We make sure we also consider factors, such as team injuries and suspensions in upcoming matches.
These factors enable us to bring you accurate predictions. That's not all. We ensure that you make the best decisions and enjoy the excitement of the Champions League with confidence.

This is where team quality and depth come to play. With many games involved and how competitive the competition would be, bigger teams would want to fill in their best of the best right from the beginning.
