Algeria will aim to complete their September fixtures with maximum points when they travel to Monrovia to face Liberia in the second round of the 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifiers on Tuesday.

Despite entering the tournament as underdogs, Liberia demonstrated tremendous grit and defensive solidity by holding Togo to a 1-1 draw on the road, but all thanks to a last-gasp equalizer from substitute William Gibson. However, the Lone Stars have not reached the finals of the Africa Cup of Nations for over two decades, with their last appearance on this stage dating back to 2002, but Romanian coach Mario Marinica will attempt to shift this trend despite his team being placed in a tricky group.

As one of the favorites for glory, Algeria began their African Cup of Nations qualification journey in style as they cruised to a comfortable 2-0 triumph over Equatorial Guinea to swiftly taking control of Group E. Even though it's become routine for them to almost always reach the final stages of this tournament, the last two editions of the Fennex Foxes were forgettable as they suffered shocking exits at the group stage on both occasions, leaving them desperately seeking redemption.

Liberia vs Algeria Betting Tips: UNDER 2.5

Algeria are known to have one of the strongest squads on the "Black" continent, but we predict that they will have to put in a lot more effort than expected to earn full points and complete the September challenges with maximum performance. Indeed, Liberia have proved tough to beat in recent months, having gone unbeaten in their previous six matches on the bounce across all competitions, claiming three wins and an equal number of draws. 

Extending the unbeaten run will not be easy, but there are slim hopes for the Lone Stars who have held Algeria to a draw on home soil both times so far, although the last of those meetings came back in 2008 when the two rivals played out a monotonous goalless contest. The Fennex foxes may have troubled opposition nets of late, but it will be interesting to see how they fare against a well-organised Liberia who have been very consistent at the back, keeping four clean sheets four times in their last six outings. In the end, we expect the Lone Stars to fight bravely and try their best to neutralize the attacking-inspired Algeria, so it wouldn't be a surprise if one goal was enough to separate the two sides.
