Aleksejevs v Abdulaev. IBO European title fight preview
Jevgenijs 'The Hurricane' Aleksejevs is a professional boxer competing in the middleweight division with an impressive unbeaten record and MightyTips brand ambassador since 2023.
Here’s his profile:
Place of birth: Riga, Latvia
Date of birth: 6 July 1993
Height: 6′0″ / 183cm
Reach: 72" / 183cm
Stance: Orthodox
The Hurricane had his first professional fight in 2013, and in more than ten years has amassed an impressive undefeated record with more than 50% of his victories coming by way of knockout or technical knockout. Check his BoxRec profile for detailed stats.
Though his nickname may infer a wild, dominating, fist-flurry of a fighter, The Hurricane is actually more controlled in his fighting style.
His main attributes closely align with that of a counterpuncher. He works from a defensive stance with a good, strong and sudden jab, a healthy dose of unpredictability, and good technical defence.
He is incisive with his attack though, and can overwhelm opponents in the mid-to-late rounds.
It’s worked for him so far, with only seven of his 16 fights going the distance.
Jevgenijs Aleksejevs will face Misto Abdulaev (GER) on September 28, 2024 in Spain, for the vacant IBO European title in the super middleweight division.

Before The Hurricane donned the boxing gloves, he was a kickboxing competitor, fighting under K-1 rules.
His nickname stems from one of his unique and eye-catching moves - a spinning, 360-degree kick. Powerful, devastating, and incapacitating, it is a suitable name for a man who won two contests via this method during his brief kickboxing career.
It stayed the course and now follows him into the boxing ring.
The Hurricane is a true fighting man - you just have to look at the depth and breadth of the titles he has won in different combat sports to see why he is one of the most respected sportsmen in Latvia.
His achievements across various formats include:
Can he add a boxing belt to the list?
His promising career in kickboxing came to a shuddering halt after a sickening kickboxing injury resulted in a fractured leg.
He broke his leg within 17 seconds of his first fight at the KOC World Championship Fight Show against Estonian fighter Rain Karkinen in 2015.
It was a tough mental obstacle for The Hurricane, but thanks to an intense rehab program, he was back on his feet soon enough, trading heels for hands.

We spoke to the man himself:
Combat sports are my lifestyle, and boxing is a combination of beauty and skill. I love the athletic and creative parts of my personality in boxing. My goal is to win a belt from one of the leading organisations such as WBC, WBA, IBF, or WBO. I believe I am good enough and strong enough to get there. I have been training all my life for a shot at a belt, I need to keep working hard and grab the opportunity if it arrives.
Here's what his coach Roman Anuchin has to say:
He is an athlete with a high boxing IQ. He adapts to opponents easily, processes information quickly, and is disciplined. These are the qualities of a potential champion.
