Liam Palmer witnessed a loss for Sheffield Wednesday from the bench. A 45th minute goal from George Byers was not enough Wednesday to salvage even a point as Birmingham replied with goals from Juninho Bacuna and substitute Jordan James.
Sheffield Wednesday remain bottom of the EFL Championship.
Lewis Travis came on after just ten minutes to replace Adam Wharton who suffered a head injury soon after putting Blackburn Rovers in front from a corner. Goals from Szmodics and Moran killed the game off and sealed a 3-0 win over Stoke City.
Blackburn Rovers’ spectacular performance means they maintain a strong 10th position, only a point behind Sunderland.
