Goutas' Cardiff march on against Rotherham whilst Chapman benched

Goutas’ defensive performance was too much for struggling Rotherham

Every Championship game is like a battle and the game on Saturday afternoon between Cardiff and Rotherham was no different. The home side was a big favorite as they are one of the best Championship teams lately. Still, the relegation candidate, Rotherham, proved in the first half to be a tough nut to crack. Eventually, Cardiff scored two goals in the second half and secured all three points. The win on Saturday against Rotherham was the fourth in a row for Erol Bulut's team. Most pundits didn't see Cardiff that high on the table, but after a win on Saturday, the Wales-based team propelled itself to the playoff position. Still, if we stretch a little deeper, the truth is that Cardiff didn't impress like in the previous games. They lacked inspiration in most of the match, but even like that Cardiff was too much for Rotherham to handle.

The defender, who came to the Championship from Sivasspor this summer, is one of the players with the most minutes in the second level of English football. His strength, tackling, and heading were again displayed against Rotherham. Goutos' presence in the heart of the defense was too big an obstacle for poor guests, who couldn't find the solution for a tall Greek. 

Jacob Chapman didn’t get the chance against Ipswich, but his team proved they are no pushovers

One of the most exciting Championship games on Saturday was seen at John Smith's Stadium in West Yorkshire, where Huddersfield played 1-1 against the league leaders Ipswich. The home side is probably among the relegation candidates this season, but with another draw, they prolonged their series without a loss to five matches. Jacob Chapman, the young goalkeeper who joined the team from the club academy this summer, didn't get the chance to prove his worth. 

Huddersfield were on a four-match unbeaten run and most expected them to lose against the league leaders, Ipswich. Still, the home side was much closer to the victory as they had a lead from the 61st minute when Delano Burgzorg found the net. The minutes separated Huddersfield from all three points, but the guests' Brandon Williams scored an equalizer in the 87th minute. Huddersfield didn't win but that kind of performance will indeed breed more confidence in the squad for the upcoming game versus Birmingham on Tuesday.  

Jacob Chapman, a player sponsored by MightyTips, didn't get the opportunity in the previous round. The young Australian goalkeeper still didn't get the chance to show his qualities in the second level of English football. Last season, he spent on the loan in Salford, where he collected much-needed first-team experience. Chapman has two experienced goalkeepers ahead of himself, Lee Nicholls (30 years old) and Chris Maxwell (33), but the worth of the 22-year-old Australian should be enough to get the chance at some point this season.
